When ESPN scheduled to air a high school football game starring IMG Academy v's Bishop Sycamore High School they sure as shit thought they were in for a showcase of the most talented players in high school football.....well they were right, for one team. A quick backstory, IMG Academy is known for athletics, they have the best players from all of the country come their just for athletics. For football alone, IMG has had 22 players play in the NFL and four times that play for big D1 programs. They are the complete definition of a powerhouse. Bishop Sycamore? Turns out they might not even be a real football program. They are said to be from Columbus, Ohio but when you search their website there is no address, the staff and about us pages on the school's website are completely blank. Oh and by the way? IMG is the #2 ranked team in the entire country and a quarter of the players on the Rivals top 40 for the state of Florida play for them. It was apparent from the opening kickoff that IMG was a far superior team and it was going to be a bloodbath. It was to the point that even the announcers were stating that they were scared for the the safety of the players from Bishop Sycamore. This game wasn't on ESP2, not ESPN+ BUT ON THE MAIN ESPN! Now who the fuck is this team? According to MaxPreps the team went 0-6 last year, being outscored 227-42. Rivals doesn't have a single player from Bishop Sycamore even listed on their site for the 2022 or 2023 recruiting. The funny thing is, this story gets weirder and weird by the day. Going into this game Bishop Sycamore was 0-1 but apparently they might have actually been 0-2 going into the game v's IMG because there is literally highlights on twitter saying they played Friday night in Ohio, two days before the game on ESPN. Apparently all we know is that they are an online only charter school in Ohio, with a football team and aren't even associated with the Ohio High School Athletic Association. ESPN had issued a statement stating "we regret that this happened with Paragon, who handles the majority of our high school event scheduling. They assure us they will take the steps in preventing this from happening moving forward". Now it seems ESPN isn't the only one to blame here...*ENTER PARAGON* Paragon has now basically come out and said they were lied to, saying the coach lied about the talent of his roster saying they had several D1 prospects. If this is true and this team played both Friday and then Sunday against a powerhouse like IMG just to get TV time? Then that coach should be gone. Their kids getting mashed up by men basically in high school jerseys. I mean it's still kind of a funny story and ESPN looks unbelievably stupid for getting duped like this, but god damn I laughed when I heard about it. This story is so fuckin wild it's almost like you can't make it up. Highlights of the Blood bath:
