This was it man, this was fuckin it...the time the entire combat sports community can say "fuck this guy, he's a fraud". The entire week Woodley was calm, chill, collected, we were ready to see 2017 Tyron Woodley, the fuckin killer. The entire week Paul and his teams antics were embarrassing, his jabs at T-Wood were simply pathetic, his brother Logan saying he retired Floyd is embarrassing and the whole fucking Jake Paul schtick is pathetic. Him calling himself a professional boxer is a slap in the face to any one whos stepped in the ring or the cage. Going into this he was 3-0, against a youtuber, a retired 5'2 NBA player and a retried MMA fighter coming off hip surgery. The lowest thing was when his team went after Mamma Woodley, If no one knows who she is it's Woodley's mother who is known in the MMA community as mayber one of the greatest women to walk this earth. She hugged both Darren Till and Kamaru Usman while giving them amazing words of encouragement after their fights with her son. The first three rounds of this fight started slow, immediately you can tell nothing Paul threw was hurting Woodley. Then the 4th round came.....Woodley hit Paul with a T-BOMB of an overhand right and knock the douchebag into the ropes. I know there were millions of people watching this fight thinking "It's time to shut this guy the fuck up", but unfortunately Woodley didn't go for the kill like he should have. He just showboated and hit a couple jabs. I'll be honest I watched the next two rounds and tapped out in the 6th, knowing Paul was gonna win this fight very unimpressively. Paul just kinda hit some body shots, a couple jabs and that was pretty much it. Woodley walked Paul down the entire fight, Paul was gassed, Woodley was fresh but he just didn't have enough output to finish this clown. If Woodley had thrown more while stalking down his prey? It would have been a fuckin wrap and we would never hear from Paul again. Now he thinks he's solidified his place as a boxer and it is full on pathetic. He's still out looking for clout, he first tweeted "Updated Status: Retired boxer" then moments later he wrote "face of the fight game" in his bio. I can say he's doing it all right because we all hate him, he has eyes on em and we allllll wanna see him get knocked into the shadow realm

When ESPN scheduled to air a high school football game starring IMG Academy v's Bishop Sycamore High School they sure as shit thought they were in for a showcase of the most talented players in high school football.....well they were right, for one team. A quick backstory, IMG Academy is known for athletics, they have the best players from all of the country come their just for athletics. For football alone, IMG has had 22 players play in the NFL and four times that play for big D1 programs. They are the complete definition of a powerhouse. Bishop Sycamore? Turns out they might not even be a real football program. They are said to be from Columbus, Ohio but when you search their website there is no address, the staff and about us pages on the school's website are completely blank. Oh and by the way? IMG is the #2 ranked team in the entire country and a quarter of the players on the Rivals top 40 for the state of Florida play for them. It was apparent from the opening kickoff that IMG was a far superior team and it was going to be a bloodbath. It was to the point that even the announcers were stating that they were scared for the the safety of the players from Bishop Sycamore. This game wasn't on ESP2, not ESPN+ BUT ON THE MAIN ESPN! Now who the fuck is this team? According to MaxPreps the team went 0-6 last year, being outscored 227-42. Rivals doesn't have a single player from Bishop Sycamore even listed on their site for the 2022 or 2023 recruiting. The funny thing is, this story gets weirder and weird by the day. Going into this game Bishop Sycamore was 0-1 but apparently they might have actually been 0-2 going into the game v's IMG because there is literally highlights on twitter saying they played Friday night in Ohio, two days before the game on ESPN. Apparently all we know is that they are an online only charter school in Ohio, with a football team and aren't even associated with the Ohio High School Athletic Association. ESPN had issued a statement stating "we regret that this happened with Paragon, who handles the majority of our high school event scheduling. They assure us they will take the steps in preventing this from happening moving forward". Now it seems ESPN isn't the only one to blame here...*ENTER PARAGON* Paragon has now basically come out and said they were lied to, saying the coach lied about the talent of his roster saying they had several D1 prospects. If this is true and this team played both Friday and then Sunday against a powerhouse like IMG just to get TV time? Then that coach should be gone. Their kids getting mashed up by men basically in high school jerseys. I mean it's still kind of a funny story and ESPN looks unbelievably stupid for getting duped like this, but god damn I laughed when I heard about it. This story is so fuckin wild it's almost like you can't make it up. Highlights of the Blood bath: The city of Glendale, Arizona is kicking the Arizona Coyotes out of Gila River Arena after the 2021-2022 NHL season. The city believes they can generate far more revenue by hosting events and concerts then holding NHL games in the arena. The city might not be wrong, the Coyotes don't really pack the arena with fans game in and game out. The team isn't on the brink of a major playoff run, so the attendance doesn't seem like it will be getting better any time soon. So where will the Yotes play their hockey next year? Let's take a look at 5 possible options for them.
Phoenix Coyotes fans in the desert desperately want this team to stay in Arizona, so why not the Footprint Center located in Phoenix. The Coyotes actually played games in this arena but in it's initial run at this Arena the Coyotes didn't have the best run. The Arena at the time was not built for Hockey, they sold obstructed view seating at a reduced price, fans in some of these sections couldn't even see a quarter of the ice including one of the nets and team had to put curtains over certain parts of the arena where the view was so badly obstructed. But maybe things have changed there now. Quebec City I mean, this ones a no brainer right? We've been talking about Quebec getting another hockey team since the Nordiques left. They built a new half a billion dollar arena back in 2012, Videotron Centre in Quebec holds just over 18,000 fans for hockey games and you know damn well the fans will back that place night in and night out. Quebec's bids have fallen short after trying to get a new team lately, being given to Vegas and Seattle but this could be the time Quebec gets pro hockey back. Everything is already in place to have a pro team there too now the move just has to be made. Hamilton (Ontario) Jim Balsillie? Don't know him? Welp, he's Canadian businessman who tried bringing the Penguins, Predators and the Coyotes to Hamilton before....so why not one more shot? They already have a 17,000 seat arena where the OHL's Hamilton Bulldogs play, so why the hell not Hamilton? The good thing for them is their only 50 miles away from Buffalo, so if they have a rivalry with them it can be a rivalry they can probably win. Kansas City Kansas City is a good sports town, T-Mobile arena can hold over 17,000 people for a hockey game, so why the hell not? They support the Chiefs and Royals really well and I think they'd be a pretty decent hockey town. Will they be crazy like Vegas? Probably not but I think they'll provide for a really good atmosphere. I will be blatantly honest with you, I stopped watching wrestling for a good 11-12 years there for a bit, but then for some reason in the Summer of 2012 I turned on WWE Raw that night. Then I saw this dude, who was right in the middle of an historic WWE title run, now he wasn't the biggest, wasn't the most athletic, but god damn there was something about this dude that I just gravitated to. That dude was CM Punk, this guy was a hell of a wrestler, he could talk on the mic....shit this dude literally did it all. Then I watched his infamous "Pipe Bomb" promo and god damn it if it wasn't the best promo I've ever seen at the time and to be honest I'm not sure if I've seen a better one since. That's the reason I started watching the WWE again, then the Daniel Bryan craze seems to start and Punk got pushed to the back burner. Now in no way am I saying the push of Daniel Bryan sucked because it was fucking awesome but at the same time Punk just got stuck and they kept giving him shit after shit after shit. Then almost as quickly as I got into WWE again to watch CM Punk? It was all gone, he started #1 in the Royal Rumble in 2014, got eliminated by Kane who wasn't even in the match and just like that Punk was gone from WWE. The next day Punk came into WWE, basically said he was sick of the bullshit and he left. Punk had a quick but horrendous stint in the UFC getting dominated by Mickey Gall then Mike Jackson, most of us thought that was the end for CM Punk. Yeah there was murmurs and small rumors of Punk returning to the ring....but fuck that's been going on for 7 years. But then it happened....
August 20th, 2021....every single true wrestling fan will remember where they were. It was Chicago....AEW Rampage.....and Cult of Personality hit. The crowd in Chicago was absolutely deafening, I don't think I'm too crazy saying this but this pop was just as loud as when Austin came out toe help Mick Foley win the WWF title. You could barely even hear the song playing the crow was so loud. Then he walked out from behind the curtain and right away this seemed to be a different CM Punk.....the difference being that he seemed happy. He came out and soaked up every single second of this moment. Then he got on the mic and cut a promo like he's been doing it like he never left the industry. He took some shots at WWE, which were warranted, he said he wanted to wrestle some young talent and proceeded to call out AEW's Darby Allin. Now I'll be the first to admit I've never been the biggest fan of Darby but he's going against Punk at the next AEW PPV in Chicago and if we all know Punk he's gonna put on one hell of a match. During the promo Punk stated that he understands if the fans got upset at choices that he made in the past during his journey but intern asked the fans to understand that he had to leave the WWE because he would never get better psychically or emotionally staying there. He spoke on how he had to leave Ring of Honor in August of 2005 saying that that was the day he left professional wrestling then went on to state on August, 20th 2021 he's back. Punk basically saying that the WWE isn't professional wrestling. Which lately I can't disagree, WWE is more about shitty storylines and putting old wrestlers in big spots that no one gives a shit about. In CM Punk fashion he ended the promo with telling everyone to pick up a CM Punk ice cream bar before they left, which we all know was something he wanted back in WWE. Punk coming back is awesome for wrestling as a whole but more importantly so awesome for AEW. Welcome back Punk, wrestling missed you RKBRO(Randy Orton and Matt Riddle) v's (C) AJ Styles and Omos It really wasn't the worst match but it wasn't great. Pretty decent way to start off Summerslam, good spots, everyone in the match looked good and RKBRO took home the belts. The poses after they won by RKBRO really made it good. GRADE: B Alexa Bliss v's Eva Marie Dude, they have to drop this gimmick with Alexa Bliss because it is awful. Now that Wyatt is gone there is really no reason for her continue doing this. She isn't a terrible wrestler she had gotten so much better and she is so much better than the shit she's been given. Eva Marie, although an absolute smoke show, may in fact be one of the worst wrestlers in the women's division. Oh and that Doudrop girl turned face after the match and no one cared. GRADE: F Damian Priest v's (C) Sheamus I didn't have the highest hopes for this match and that's mainly because I'm just over Sheamus. I never though Sheamus was that great, ever. But it was a good hard hitting match that saw Damian Priest walk away as the new US Champ. Priest is a good wrestler, not great on the mic but he deserves a decent run with the belt GRADE: B Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio v's (C) The Uso's The Uso's are one of the best tag teams in the last 15-20 years, I don't care if you disagree with me but that's just my opinion. They're so much better than defending their titles against Rey and his shit kid. Dominik is still you and maybe he'll be good one day but right now he sucks. Thank god the Uso's retained the Smackdown tag titles. GRADE C Becky Lynch v's (C) Bianca Belair Ok, now this is where things get a little screwy. Sasha Banks wasn't there and it's reported that it's because she isn't vaccinated and they had to have 100% vaccination rates. Then they brought out Carmella, which at first sucks, Carmella is a shitty wrestler and knowing that she has slept with Corey Graves now makes her insanely unattractive. BUTTTT THEN THE MAN'S MUSIC HIT! Becky Lynch was back! The crowd went fuckin crazy, she kicked the shit out of Carmella, challenged Belair and the title match was on. Then she beat Belair in 27 seconds and won the belt. Absolutely awful awful awful job of booking this by WWE. You just squash Belair? Just like that? No no no, that was some absolute bullshit. Belair is too good for that bullshit GRADE D- Drew McIntyre v's Jinder Mahal Drew is awesome but this match sucked and was pointless GRADE F Charlotte v's Rhea Ripley v's (C) Nikki A.S.H I don't know man, to be honest for me Charlotte is one of the best women's wrestlers of all-time but Jesus Christ enough already. She came into the WWE in 2014, that's 7 years ago and now she's a 12 time champ? It seemed like this match was just built for her. She had all the big spots, all the big moves, all the momentum. Nikki and Rhea didn't really do much in the match. Charlotte won and is the new Raw women's champ. I thought Ripley should have won and I also don't think she should have lost the belt in the first place. GRADE C+ Edge v's Seth Rollins This for me was the best match on the card. I called this from the beginning. First off Edge came out to the fuckin brood entrance? WHAT?!? That was awesome. Again just a hard hitting match, both guys had huge spots throughout the entire match. Since coming back Edge has proven time and time again that he can for sure still go with the best wrestlers in the WWE. Edge ended up getting the win over Rollins via submission and it was good to see him get that big win. GRADE A Goldberg v's (C) Bobby Lashley NOPE, JUST ABSOLUTE NOPE. I genuinely don'y even want to talk about how fucking awful this match was. Dude Goldberg is like 50, can we stop already? They kept trying to have him show off how powerful he was and not to sound like a dick but obviously he isn't that guy anymore. Lashley won by referee stoppage, Goldberg's son jumped on him then Bobby ragdolled him too GRADE F John Cena v's (C) Roman Reigns I am going to be completely honest, I fell asleep during this match. For the first 10-15 minutes it was Reigns beating the fuck out of Cena then Cena trying to roll him up. I think Reigns and Cena are great I truly do. But at the same time what did we expect to come out of a match with two dudes who each have 5 moves a piece in their arsenal? Reigns won, I don't know how but he did. Then after Brock Lesnar came back and he has a man bun, that happened too. It was kinda cool to see Brock back but overall I just didn't care because like I've said before, it's just the same recycled bullshit. GRADE C Let me start by sayin, I hate the Rangers.....when I say hate.....like I effin hate this team, from their lame ass goal song, their shit head fans, I just hate all of it. But this guy? Hank? The King? Whatever you want to call him, I'll let you in on a little secret.....over the past 10 years, he's probably been my favorite player in the NHL. What this guy did for the Rangers on the ice was just unmatched. He carried so many talent challenged Rangers teams on deep playoff runs. Let's be honest the when they made the Stanley Cup finals back in 2014, that was all because of King Henrik. Lundqvist was an amazing ambassador for the game, whether it be with his on ice play, how he carried himself off the ice or the work he did in the community. The King always played a huge role in the MSG foundation "Garden of Dreams". Hank always had time for the fans, most guys in his situations couldn't give a shit about the fans but not Hank. Go to youtube, you can find countless videos of Lundqvist doing make-a-wish, garden of dreams, anything you name it. Can we also talk about how good looking he was? It's genuinely not even fair, when he would take that helmet off and whip his hair around? Good lord the women in the stands must have been in puddles after watching that and hell dudes pants probably got a little bit shorter too. Guy was a complete man rocket in a suit, his chiseled jaw line, probably got a bulge you can see from the top of the empire state building, I already mentioned the hair, the facial stubble, like Jesus Christ I'm sweating just talking about it.
For the last 15 years Lundqvist was a consistent presence in net for the Blueshirts. Growing up a Sabres fan I saw what great goaltending could do for a team and I equate what Hank did to what Hasek did in Buffalo. Yes, the Rangers most certainly had more talented teams than most of Hasek's Sabres teams but he was the backbone of that organization. In his 15 years he was a 5x Vezina finalist, a 5x all-star, won the Vezina in 2012 and an Olympic gold medalist with Sweden in 2006. He reached 400 wins faster than any goalie ever. He hold over 50 Rangers records, including wins, appearances by a goaltender, shutouts, playoff appearances and playoff wins. I could honestly talk about this guy all god damn day to be blatantly honest. The Rangers have already announced they will retire the kings #30 to the rafters of MSG this year, rightfully so and going on to state "Henrik is, and will always be, a Ranger". The only sad part of this story was his reasoning for retiring was his heart. Again I cannot say it enough, he may not just be one of the best goalies of our generation but he may be one of the best people to put on the pads. Lastly Henrik stated "Lastly, Thank you to the game of hockey and its fans! You gave my life a purpose and I have loved every single minute of it!" A true and genuine Thank You to the King for doing everything on and off the Ice.....the right way. . Not again, my god not again. I was having so much fun watching baseball, the Mets were good, the Yankees suck(still do) and then August hit. The Mets are 4-12 so far this month and they've just been bad. Since the All-Star break, literally the only one who's been some what consistent is Pete Alonso. Stroman and Walker have been terrible, Rich Hill hasn't been good and Carlos Carrasco has been just terrible since returning for the first time this year from the DL. Now I know injuries have absolutely destroyed us recently, Lindor, deGrom and now Baez. I full on knew what we were getting when we traded for Javy Baez, dude is a feast of famine kind of play and there isn't a pitch he didn't like to swing at. But god damn not again, this fucking team cannot do this again. A month ago the Mets were 5.5 games up in 1st place in the division, now they're sitting 3.5 back and in 3rd. The pitching has to be better and the bats have to wake up, because right now this could be a very embarrassing end to this season. With September approaching the Mets should be able to get all of the three guys back that I had named but, will it be too late?
So far the trades the Mets made at the deadline have not been too great, Rich Hill like I said has been awful and Javy Baez is hitting just .171 since being traded to New York. Hopefully the most recent stint on the IL will wake Baez's bat up and help the Mets get back into the playoff picture. If the Mets can't win this division I think they'll have some serious thinking to do during the off-season, to be honest? I think even if they win the division they still have a ton of thinking to do with this roster going forward. Let's be honest this team could win the division but a World Series team? They're not there yet. Conforto is set to be a free agent at the end of the year and the rumor is they'll either let him walk or he is going to accept the 1 year qualifying offer. An upgrade at 3rd is probably needed as well then they need to figure out what to do with Baez who is also a free agent, so there is some definite shit to figure out with this team. I can't believe they're gonna fucking blow it again, fire Rojas too why not? He stinks Yesterday I went over some of the best matches in the history of Summerslam. So I got a little nostalgic and got down a YouTube rabbit hole, Then I realized holy balls, Summerslam had some absolutely terrible main events. Maybe some of the worst main events in WWE history. I know Roman had a little streak there at Mania's where every main event he had was absolute dog shit, like when he went against Taker and when he went against Triple H. But like I said I went down a long, long, lonnnnngggg rabbit hole and thought "holy shit" some of these matches were actually main events? So let's stop talking and get to it, let's see how awful some of these main events really were..... Summerslam 1995: Diesel(C) v's Mabel This is absolutely absurd that this match was not only the main event but it was for the WWF title. Yes, Big Daddy V (RIP) wrestled in a Summerslam main event for the title. This match was less than 10 minutes long and an absolute shit fest. Let's be honest, when Big Daddy Cool is the best wrestler in a match, it most certainly will not be good. There was one spot in the match where Diesel tried to do an over the top rope move on to Mabel who was outside of the ring and it was just so horrendous that it as laughable. The only way I picture Mabel now is when he was Big Daddy V and had those suspenders on? You know what ones I'm talking about, where his boobies were flopping out? That's the Mabel I want to remember, no the Summerslam headlining Mabel. Summerslam 1993: Yokozuna(C) v's Lex Luger Not only was this match very bad but it may have had one of the dumbest, lamest, and corniest endings ever. This was it man, summer of 93', the Lex Express was hot, he slammed Yokozuna on an air craft carrier, he was going to hoist this great country to new heights. Nope. How does it end you ask? Lex Luger hits Yokozuna out of the ring with his steel plated forearm, wins by count out and they have a celebration like he just won the title and was going to go on an historic run. It was so fuckin lame, the Steiners and Tatanka hoist him on his shoulders while he waves the American flag and Macho Man was in the ring clapping, JESUS was it bad. THEY DROPPED RED, WHITE AND BLUE BALOONS FOR FUCKS SAKE....ok, ok, ok I'm done now.... Summerslam 1994: The Undertaker v's "The Undertaker" Holy shit how bad was Summerslam in the early/mid 90's?!?!?! The Million Dollar Man really brought it a fake Undertaker to go against the real one and oof was it bad. Brian Lee who played the fake Undertaker fucked up the few attempted moves he tried in the match, the crowd was dead silent, it was just overall awful. I actually watched this yesterday, the crowd was so silent even Vince on the mic kept saying "they're stunned" basically to hide how silent the crowd was. Oh yeah, the Bret v's Owen cage match was on this card and they ended this event with this heaping pile of shit. Summerslam 2016: Brock Lesnar v's Randy Orton This match had some decent moments and probably could have been awesome but overall it wasn't. The match ended with Lesnar beating the shit out of Orton until he opened a cut on Orton and the ref stopped the match, that's it....event over....Lesnar basically wins by TKO. Super anti-climatic ending and left a lot to be desired. Summerslam 2010: Team Cena v's Team Nexus The match wasn't the worst, it was really just the ending that sucked. Nexus was running shit in WWE at this time, just beating the shit out of everyone. Cena got to do Cena shit and take it to the Nexus, piss pounding members here and there but overall the Nexus was beating people up. But the rumor to this day is that Cena didn't want to put the Nexus over. So instead of the Nexus winning and continuing their hot run, Cena basically squashed any momentum that the Nexus had and literally killed Nexus. Rookie Report: Week 1 of the pre-season is over, which rookie shined and who disappointed?8/15/2021 NFL football is back and thank god, there's been a kind of "blah" feeling with sports lately and I'm a Mets fans so watching them collapse again gets kind of old. There's a ton of fans out there hoping that their draft pick shows out and makes their team into a contender. Week 1 of pre-season is over and some rookies showed out and some disappointed. Let's take a look at what rookies put on a show and what ones were kind of a dud..... TOP 10 Picks from the 2021 NFL Draft: 1) Jacksonville Jaguars, QB Trevor Lawrence: Lawrence went 6 of 9 passing for 71 yards in two series against the Browns while being sacked twice. He had an absolute 31 yard dime to Marvin Jones on the last play of the 1st quarter. Seemed mildly nervous, had a little bit of happy feet but they'll go away, with time. 2) New York Jets, QB Zach Wilson Zach Wilson went 6 of 9 for 63 yards. Gonna be honest, dude looked pretty solid and fairly calm in the pocket as well as rolling out of the pocket. He might be the real deal but, he does play for the Jets and it is just the first week of the pre-season 3) San Francisco 49ers, QB Trey Lance Lance's 2nd pass of the game was an 80 yard beauty to Trent Sherfield for a TD, outside of that? It was kind of an underwhelming performance by Lance. He did play against KC's first string defense and the Niners wideouts did drop a a feq balls, but it seemed like he was trying to hard to make plays too. I think he'll be alright, dude has a rocket arm and all the measurables to be a good NFL QB. 4) Atlanta Falcons, TE Kyle Pitts Pitts did not play in Atlanta's first game against the Titans 5) Cincinnati Bengals, WR Ja'Marr Chase Chase had just 1 reception for 16 yards coming off a bubble screen. I'm aware it's just one catch but he should athleticism and speed, plus Joe Burrow didn't play. 6) Miami Dolphins, WR Jaylen Waddle Waddle had zero receptions but had a 24 yard punt return. I'm aware it's strange to get excited over a punt return but Waddle showed he could be a dynamic playmaker. 7) Detroit Lions, OT Penei Sewell On the first play of the game fellow rookie Gregory Rousseau knocked Penei off balance and beat him on the edge to get to Goff. Rousseau really gave Sewell hell, just using his long arms to beat Penei for a bit. But most of the o-line looked abysmal v's the Bills front 4. 8) Carolina Panthers, CB Jaycee Horn Not really much to report, he didn't make any glaring errors and for a Carolina secondary that's been nothing short of terrible, I'll take it. 9)Denver Broncos, CB Patrick Surtain II Surtain looked good, making a great jump on a pass from Minnesota's Jake Browning to pick it off and take it too the house, I think Surtain could have and should have went earlier in the top 10. 10) Philadelphia Eagles, WR DeVonta Smith Smith did not play in the Eagles game v's Pittsburgh due to an MCL Sprain. THE BEST OF THE REST: Chicago Bears, QB Justin Fields Fields looked goooood. Fields went 14 of 20 for 142 yards and 1 touchdown. He also added 5 carries for 33 yards including a 9 yard TD run. New England Patriots, RB Rhamondre Stevenson Just Bill doing Bill shit, Stevenson had a real impressive debut for the Pats. Stevenson had 127 yards on just 10 carries including a big 91 yard Touchdown run. Stevenson, a 4th round pick out of Oklahoma could see a lot of the field in a very shallow Patriot backfield. Arizona Cardinals, WR Rondale Moore Moore didn't have a touchdown but had 3 catches for 23 yards for Arizona and the Cardinals could be a very sneaky team in the NFC West. Carolina Panthers, WR Terrace Marshall JR, TE Tommy Tremble and RB Chubba Hubbard Marshall had 3 receptions for 88 yards including a 60 yard catch and run. As a Notre Dame fan i had to give Tremble some love, he had 3 catches for 19 yards and touchdown. Hubbard, who could be a good 1-2 punch with Run CMC added 7 carries for 80 yards.' NOT THE BEST 1ST IMPRESSION: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, QB Kyle Trask First off, I never thought Trask was a good QB even when he was at Florida. Trask went 4 of 15 for just 35 yards while being sacked 5 times. Trask did have a couple deep balls that were dropped by Bucs wideouts, which may have made him go from not good to good for a first impression. Minnesota Vikings, QB Kellen Mond Mond seemed kind of shaky in his first real NFL action. He completed just 6 out of 16 passes for just 53 yards. Pittsburgh Steelers, RB Najee Harris Harris just could not get any openings in space to make break any big runs. Najee had just 22 yards on 7 carries and just didn't seem incredibly comfortable. With Summerslam coming up next weekend, I got to thinking.....what are some good moments from Summerslam past? To be honest, for me Summerslam was actually always my least favorite of the four main PPV's. Obviously Mania is mania, The Royal Rumble is always a favorite and Survivor Series used to be awesome now it sort of sucks with the whole Raw v's Smackdown thing every year. But Summerslam has provided some awesome matches, maybe not like some of the other events in the past but there was still some bangers. Let's take a look at my Top 10 Summerslam matches of all-time........ 10) CM Punk v's Brock Lesnar, Summerslam 2013: I saw someone recently reference this match and I went back and watched it, mainly because I don't remember it being such a good match. It was 20 minutes plus, Lesnar had moments of pure dominance then Punk came back with epic moments of resilience. You had the story of Punk vs Heyman which showed through out the entire match. Maybe one of Punk's best matches but in my opinion? Easily Brock's best match ever. Of course it ended in Lesnar winning but it was an incredible match, I mean when do you see Brock go that long for that pace? 9) Triple H v's Shawn Michaels, Summerslam 2002: This was just a tremendous build up for a match. Michaels was coming back after a four year absence from the ring due to a terrible back injury. It started when Michaels came back from injury, got hit by a car then it was revealed that it was Triple H who ran Michaels over with the car. Triple H turned his back on Michaels before revealing he used HBK to get to the top of WWE. General Manager Eric Bischoff would not officially sanction the match which then turned into an unsanctioned street match. It was a 30 minute war which showed Triple H was at the top of his game and Shawn Michaels hadn't lost a step in the ring, Michaels was victorious after it was all said and done, but this was perfectly done with the lead up and the match itself. 8)Edge v's The Undertaker, Summerslam 2008 Obviously this match was gonna be awesome from the beginning. This was "Edge's wife" Vickie's retaliation for cheating on her(horrid storyline). Edge had some of his best promo work leading up to this match, he went insane and beat the fuck out of anyone he could to show Taker he was ready for the match. These dudes went back and forth during this whole match, both showed they were the top dogs in WWE, it ended with Taker giving Edge and con-chairto then the Tombstone for the win. But it didn't end there, as Taker walked to the back he saw Edge moving and came back to the ring and delivered a chokeslam to Edge that sent him straight through the ring. 7) The Rock v's Triple H, Summerslam 1998: This is probably the first great match of either or these guys careers. A ladder match between two legends of wrestling, for the IC title. This was a pretty hard hitting match and these dudes were really bruising each other. Triple H with DX and The Rock with the Nation of Domination. Triple H prevailed and walked away with the IC strap after Chyna hit The Rock in the pills knocking him off the ladder and letting Triple H grab the hanging belt. 6) Daniel Bryan v's John Cena, Summerslam 2013: This was definitely something the WWE universe was looking forward too. Everyone was a Daniel Bryan guy at this point and it was that time period where everyone and their mother hated John Cena. So when Cena hand picked Bryan as his opponent for Summerslam, everyone thought this was finally Bryan's moment. Now, He did win the title buttttt Triple H was the special referee and pedigreed Bryan after he won so Randy Orton could cash in his MITB briefcase to win the title from Bryan. 5) Stone Cold v's Kurt Angle, Summerslam 2001: This was the height of the invasion angle, everyone was shocked that Stone Cold had chosen to turn his back on the WWE and join the Alliance. This match was awesome, false finish after false finish and the crowd was fucking electric. This match was so awesome, but the ending was so bad I don't even wanna talk about it 4) The British Bulldog v's Bret Hart, Summerslam 1992: Now listen, I've been on record saying that I was never a Bret Hart fan but without a doubt he carried this match to greatness. Bulldog was never the most technical in ring performer but Bret made this match what it was. Family v's Family it was built as, the Bulldog prevailed and won the IC title in his home country of England and the crowd was absolutely buzzzzzing. 3) Shawn Michaels v's Razor Ramon, Summerslam 1995: This was sort of gets lost a bit on how great this truly was. I get that maybe some people thing it wasn't as good as the Mania ladder match that these two had, but god damn this match was awesome. It was just as good as the Mania match. Hard hitting match but this time Shawn walks away with the IC strap. 2) The Dudley's v's The Hardyz v's Edge and Christian, Summerslam 2000: I mean, do I even have to explain why this match is on here? They did it 3 times and every one of these TLC matches were just incredible. Edge and Christian retained their titles in a fucking insane match. I haven't watched it in awhile but I know Jeff Hardy probably did some crazy shit off a ladder. 1) Owen Hart v's Bret Hart, Summerslam 1994: I mean, god damn was this just an old school technical wrestling match. Owen is better than Bret, you cannot change my mind and I will take that opinion to the grave with me. Both guys used the cage perfectly to batter their opponent and it wasn't that shitty chain link fence one they use know, it was that thick hard blue metal cage from back when. This one was for the WWF title and Bret unfortunately won by sneaking out of the cage like that rat that he is. Owen should have one the title at some point while the two brother went at it but they just never pulled the trigger on it. This match definitely showed Owen was one of the best wrestler in the WWF at the time and like I said, I firmly think he was better than Bret, he was just as technical, way more athletic and far better on the mic. |
