Last night Ciryl Gane took on Jairzinho Rozenstruik in a what was supposed to be a heavyweight main event loaded with fireworks, if you were a casual MMA fan you most certainly were not impressed. Now i consider myself to be a little bit more than a casual fan and even for me it was just not an impressive fight for either men. Gane did exactly what he needed to do to win the fight, nothing more. Rozenstruik clearly lost every round and showed absolutely no urgency to come forward and try to finish Gane in the later rounds. Gan got the unanimous decision win, but it most certainly will not get him the next crack at the heavyweight title. After Derrick Lewis finished Curtis Blaydes in spectacular fashion last weekend, you would have thought these guys figured they needed to do the same but clearly they had different strategies. Jon Jones seems to be the likely guy to get the winner of the Miocic vs Ngannou fight on march 27th. What does the UFC do from here? I think you have three guys to consider a for a title shot after Jon Jones, in my opinion those guys are Derrick Lewis, Alexander Volkov and Cyril Gane. Maybe we end up seeing Lewis get that fight with Allistair Overeem that he called for last weekend and you see Volkov take on Gane in another fight. Now, the real show stealer of the night was the bantamweight battle between Jimmie Rivera and Pedro Munhoz. These two guys were throwing heavy hands, each were really looking for the finish throughout the three round war. Munhoz just beat down Rivera's lead leg with calf kicks and by the end of the fight Rivera could barely stand on it. Rivera showed the heart of a lion though, not backing down and continuing to throw big strikes trying to finish Munhoz. Munhoz won via unanimous decision. Big win for Munhoz in an absolutely stacked UFC bantamweight division.

Damn man, just damn. Louis Nix III was found dead at just 29 years old. Being a Notre Dame fan this one hits hard, Nix was a huge part of Notre Dame’s #1 ranked defense who made their way to the National Championship in 2012. Nix, who went by the nickname “Irish Chocolate” just seemed like a super funny dude who really elevated his play for the Irish in his junior season. Like I said before he was a huge part of Notre Dame’s awesome defense in 2012’s undefeated regular season. I fucking loved this guy and hope so badly he could make it at the next level. Nix was drafted in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Houston Texans, he spent time with the Texans, Giants, and Jaguars. Nix III was reported missing by his family on Wednesday, before being found on Saturday. Nix was shot in December during an attempted armed robbery at a gas station in Jacksonville, his hometown, as he put air into his car tire. The bullet to his chest left Nix in the hospital for nearly two weeks, and some of its fragments remained in his sternum and his left lung(via NBCsports). The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department pulled a car out of a pond on Saturday that apparently matched Nix’s car description. The Sheriff’s Department is investigating and has not said if this has any connection to the shooting from December. Just terrible shit, like i said before this hits so hard for me being a Notre Dame fan and how much I loved that 2012 team. I’m not afraid to admit it, this story brought me actual tears. Hopefully they find out what happened to Louis and thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this horrible time in their lives. Deshaun Watson met with Texans brass and new head coach David Culley and basically told them to fuck off, still insisting he wants out. Now, I’m not sure what kind of info Vice President Jack Easterby has over the Texans but it must be some real heavy shit. This guy is literally running this team into the ground, first JJ Watt wanted out, now their 25 year old stud QB wants out. Throughout his career has basically only been a Champlain and a “Character Coach” for teams, now what made the Texans name him VP of operations is beyond me, but it seems to be a very poor choice so far. Easterby has literally mismanaged almost everything he’s touched during his tenure in Houston, you name it and he’s fucked it up. This guy has bundled coaches and stars, it seems to be just getting worse before it gets better over in Houston. Now, onto Deshaun Watson and where he will end up for the 2021 season. Watson has made it abundantly clear on more than one occasion he wants out of Houston and it’s time the Texans start listening to trade offers. Obviously these trade offers are going to have to include at least 2 first round picks from whatever team is looking to get Watson’s services. Maybe even a quarterback and a couple first rounders in exchange for Watson is something you might even see. Let’s take a look at some teams people are talking about that are throwing their names into the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes. The Denver Broncos Yes, Denver has a young quarterback already in Drew Lock but I’m not sure the Broncos believe in Lock for him to be the future QB of this team. Lock has been in the league for 2 years now and his numbers are not very desirable. Last year Lock threw for almost 3,000 yards with 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. For this to happen i think you're gonna have to see the Broncos offer up Lock, 2 future first round picks and another late round pick to land Watson. The Carolina Panthers As a Panthers fan, I would love to see Watson lined up in Carolina blue, but I’m not sure I want to see the Panthers trade several picks during a rebuild. Again, I think this is a situation where Carolina is going to have to give up Teddy Bridgewater, first round picks and a 3rd round pick at some point too. Carolina has already been clearing cap space to make a move for Watson, so it should be intriguing to see if they can pull the trigger. The San Francisco 49ers Same thing here, Jimmy G isn’t the answer for the 49ers. So again the same old story, Jimmy G and picks for Watson would be the likely move here if the 49ers would look to make the move. But i could be wrong, maybe the niners will see how a healthy Jimmy G comes back. The Miami Dolphins The Dolphins are actually a decent team and have a good roster of young players to compete for the AFC East next season. But, is Tua the answer at QB? Will the Dolphins give up on Tua so quickly? I’m not sure, I think he’s a decent QB, maybe they’ll just try to get some weapons for him and see what he can do. Or maybe they’ll trade him for Watson, all I know is this offseason is gonna be fun as hell to watch where some of these guys are gonna land. ReplyForward Yeah it’s February but who gives a shit, here’s my Notre Dame football 2021 Preview. Defense:2/25/2021 Yeah it’s February but who gives a shit, here’s my Notre Dame football 2021 Preview. Defense: Early February I previewed the Notre Dame offense for the upcoming 2021 season, now it’s time to take a look at the defense. I already spoke on the key losses to both offense and defense, so I’m just gonna jump right into it…… Defensive End: Losing Daelin Hayes and Adetokunbo Ogundeji is going to hurt, these guys made big plays pretty consistently. I thought Hayes was super underrated, such speed off the edge was a terror for quarterbacks. But I think this spot on the defense won’t hurt that much because of the losses at defensive end. With guys like Isaiah Foskey and Justin Ademilola will step right in and make a pretty big impact on defense for the Irish. Predicted Starters Defensive End: Isaih Foskey and Justin Ademilola Defensive Tackle: Not really losing many guys here, but the lack of depth in my opinion might hurt the Irish here. Unfortunately this isn’t the only position Notre Dame is lacking for depth on defense. With names like Myron Tagovaiola-Amosa, Kurt Hinisch, Jacob Lacey and Howard Cross III. By no means am I saying these kids aren’t talented and could make some noise on defense. I'm just sayin it might not be enough firepower to contend for the playoffs again. Predicted Starters Defensive Tackle: Myron Tagovaiola-Amosa and Kurt Hinisch Linebackers: Oh boy, is it time for some guys to step up. With losing Butkus Award winner Jeremiah Owuso-Koramoah let’s see what some of these guys can do. I think these linebackers may perhaps be sneaky underrated. With names like Drew White, Isaiah Pryor(moving from safety), Shayne Simon, Bo Bauer, Jack Kiser and Marist Liufau JR. I honestly, don’t hate this corp of Linebackers, you’re gonna see a lot of rotation here and that's not a bad thing. Predicted Starters Linebacker: Drew White, Isaiah Pryor and Shayne Simon JR. Secondary: Another position that always seems to be a weak spot for the irish, the secondary. Not really losing too many key pieces here outside of Shaun Crawford, but the secondary has always been a spot for concern for Notre Dame. You’re going to see probably at least 8-10 different guys lining up in the secondary. The talent is there, but the question is? Who’s gonna step up? Pre-season All-American Kyle Hamilton will be leaned on a lot to be the leader of the secondary this year and in no way is that a bad thing. Predicted Starters Secondary: Cam Hart(CB) TaRiq Bracy(CB) Kyle Hamilton(S) Houston Griffith (S) Predicted Starters: Jonathan Doerer(K) Jay Bramblett(P) MY EXTRA POINTS: CAPTAINS Jarretty Patterson (OL) Kyren Williams (RB) Kurt Hinisch (DT) Kyle Hamilton (S) Jonathan Doerer (K) Like honestly? How fucking sick were these games? They had the biggest celebrities and athletes around, playing in this game at the time. They had dudes like Gary Payton, Kevin Garnett and Chris Webber. Absolute legends at the time, playing alongside names like Mark Wahlberg, Dean Cain and Flea. They had legit 3 baskets on top of eachother to shoot in. They had your standard basket, a twenty five point basket and the legendary 50 point basket. The best was these celebrities who were absolute bum athletes, hitting 25 point shots and walking around like they were Michael Jordan crossing up Byron Russel for the game winner. Let’s not forget about the softball Rock-N-Jock games, I mean c’mon….just look at this pic of Joey Lawrence and Mark Paul-Gosselaar. With just those two names you knew these events were gonna be backed with absolute A list celebrities. Think back now, it’s Saturday afternoon, you just got done playing mario kart on your super nintendo, you turn it off, tune into MTV to watch a softball game which sees Ken Griffey Jr taking pitches from Queen Latifah. Then Ken Griffey Jr hits a ball too the fuckin moon and your day has been made, those were simpler times. But honestly, MTV should bring this shit back. I mean c’mon have you ever seen the shit they pump out now? Did you know 16 and pregnant was still a thing? Or that they have a show on there called Floribama shore? Which is basically a more redneck/shittier version of The Jersey Shore? Please MTV, bring this back. Boy has this quote aged horribly. Not only have the Sabres not come close to winning a Stanley Cup but they haven’t even made the playoffs since the 2010-2011 season. The Pegula’s have made this team a complete laughing stock around the NHL and as a Sabres fan? I’m here to say we’re sick of it. First let’s start with Kim Pegula being the president of the team, what in the fuck qualifies her to be the president of this team, let alone any team? In 2013 Pat LaFontaine was named president of hockey operations, Sabres fans were elated by this news. Finally we got a guy who knows this team, knows hockey and knows what to do. Three months later, LaFonatine resigned as president of hockey ops, why? I think because he saw the absolute wasteland the Pegula’s were sending the Sabres in and wanted no part in it. How about the absolute pile of shit, known as our free agent signings since the Pegula’s reign of terror started 10 years ago. Christian Ehroff signed a 10 year 40 million dollar ticket in June 2011, to kick off the terrible mess. It’s never the best idea to sign anyone to a 10 year deal, let alone a defenseman whose biggest flaw is? His defense. Ehroff played decently in his first year in Buffalo after that, and was a complete shit fest. After three years the Sabres bought out Ehroff’s contract and still to this day pay him $857,000 until the end of the 2027-2028 season. In July 2014 we decided to re-sign “all star” Matt Moulson to a 5 year 25 million dollar deal. Moulson had 35 goals in 253 games, not what I would consider good enough for $5 million/ a year. Buffalo waived Moulson in 2017 after a just horrendous run with us. Then finally we get to the "coup de grâce" of atrocious signings. Ville Leino, in 2011 he signed a 6 year deal….worth $7,333,333/ a year. Leino had a pretty good playoff the year prior with Philly…..and that's where it pretty much ended. Leino played three terrible seasons in Buffalo before being bought out, playing 137 and scoring a whopping 10 goals. The Pegula’s have had six coaches and four general managers since 2011. Prior to that the sabres have had five general managers and fourteen head coaches. Wanna know the one constant in this dumpster fire? It’s the Pegula’s they run this team like business men and fans. It’s just not working, how is a coach or GM supposed to implement a plan while given 2-3 years to do so? It doesn’t work like that 98% of the time . Yes Jason Botterill needed to go after the terrible trade he made with Ryan O’Reily with literally no return. Oh by the way O’reily went on to win a Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe and the Frank Selke award…..in one year. The wasted young talent we have on this team right now? There is no excuse for this at all. Jack Eichel would be a bonafide superstar on any other team in this league, but he plays in Buffalo and is wasting the prime part of his career. Rasmus Dahlin, former #1 pick? What the fuck happened to him? Where has he been? Maybe it's the fact that we bring in a new coach every 24 hours, maybe it's the fact he has a different linemate every night, maybe it's the fact that he hasn’t even been put in a position to flourish. Maybe it’s all of these reasons. Sam Reinhart, former #2 overall pick, has played well during his time with the Sabres but he’s also played for four different coaches in the NHL and he’s only twenty five years old. The fact of the matter is the Pegula’s don't care about Sabres fans. Last year during the Sabres “90’s night” celebration, legends were given chinese knockoff jerseys and some even had their names misspelled on the jersey’s. This can’t and should never happen, if this is how they treat the alumni, do you really think they give a flying fuck about the fans? Never in my life as a Sabres fan have I been so depressed thinking about this team and the direction of the future. I’m not sure when this debacle will end but it has to happen, sooner rather than later. We need hockey minds in the front office and Kim Pegula needs to go, get Chris Drury as a GM, get a coach that’s been a coach in the league in the last 10 years…...all the fans want is for you to do something, anything to show you’re listening. Possible Big News out of the NHL, Bruce Boudreau is looking for the Seattle Kraken head coaching job. Now Boudreau is a good coach and I don’t want anyone to forget that. But he is a good coach for good players. Boudreau historically has coached superstars, players like Alexander Ovechekin, Ryan Getzlaf, Teemu Selanne, even Corey Perry and at the time Alexander Semin. You might ask what is missing above, and that is players for the Wild. Minnesota, never had the stars power like the Ducks or Caps. Sure they do have good players, but they need coaches to lead them. Boudreau is not the guy for a team of what I call “meh” players. After the debacle that was the Vegas Golden Knights expansion draft, teams have learned how to work the expansion draft. Washington gets Chara to possibly keep unprotected, Boston calls up a bunch of young players to keep unprotected. There are new faces everywhere for this reason. Boudreau won’t be able to develop young players like Jakub Zboril. He definitely won’t be able to keep an aging Zdeno Chara engaged either. Lets face it, the sun has set on Bruce Boudreau being a head coach in the NHL. It sucks that he wasn’t able to bring home a cup but he did have a solid career. With 984 games behind the bench he won 567 of them (201 with Washington, 208 with Anaheim and 158 in Minnesota). Seattle won’t be able to bring him success like the Caps and Ducks got him. Now if you ask me, Mike Babcock is still available for an NHL job, and with every team having their coaches for what looks like a while look for him to take the job in Seattle. He is a cup winner, currently working with the University of Saskatchewan so he is keeping his bearings. Sure he officially has a history of being a grade A douchebag but he will keep his players in line, piss off his veterans to make them play angry and scare his youngsters to make them play well. I mean Marner and Matthews were studs under Babs. Babcock needs to clean up his act, but him being in a college environment might be what he needs to learn how to treat people. Artemi Panarin did it, he finally pissed off Putin so much that the Russian government is making hit pieces about him allegedly beating a woman back in 2011 and I have many questions about the validity of the article. First off Artemi Panarin is one of the most prolific players in todays NHL and he is easily the most outspoken of the political climate in Russia. Panarin is possibly the most anti-Putin athlete in Russia, his statements against the Russian president are not only alarming but also scary. I personally would not speak out against the retired KGB member and ruthless world leader. I’m not saying he’s wrong, it just seems dangerous. Second, why now? It’s not like this happened over the summer, this was a decade ago. There were no victims named, no location where. Just that it happened in Latvia, Patrick Kane’s was at least more detailed. This article basically just mentioned that it happened and we should all hate him. In conclusion I personally do not believe that Panarin did this due the fact that he is seriously outspoken against a ruthless politician. He is in serious danger being in NYC and is right to take this leave of absence. I hope for his safety, he seems like a nice person, he is good for the league and for the Rangers especially. The Main Event for UFC Fight Night saw Curtiz “Rayzor” Blaydes take on Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis, the story going into this fight was how often could Blaydes take Lewis down and how much damage could he inflict on the ground. Boy, did this fight not go as Curtis Blaydes expected, Derrick Lewis pretty much neutralized the takedowns of Blaydes and in the second round, Blaydes shot for a take down and Lewis hit him with an uppercut from hell. Lewis threw everything he had behind the punch and knocked Blaydes out stiff, Lewis landed some additional, maybe unnecessary punches to a knocked out Blaydes. Derrick Lewis is one of the most marketable and funniest dudes in the UFC , after knocking out Blaydes he proceeded to do the “DX chop” to his downed opponent. Also if you haven’t yet go follow this dude on instagram, go follow him now @thebeastufc. He may be the funniest follow not just out of the UFC but on instagram in general. This guy has delivered such lines as….. -”My balls was hot” After knocking out Alexander Volkov - “Where Rhonda Rousey’s fine ass?’ After knocking out Rousey’s husband Travis Browne -”I’m gonna go home and throw my wifes legs in the air” After knocking out Alexander Volkov -” I just gotta do number 2, it didn't hurt i just gotta do a doo doo” After knocking out Travis Browne Dude is a fucking legend, where he goes from here? I’m not sure. With Jon Jones most likely getting the winner of the Stipe and Francis fight, it’s unlikely Lewis fights for the title any time soon. He called out Allistair Overeem after the fight, which I think would be a fun fight and the UFC should most certainly book that shit now. Or a second option? He gets the winner of Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs Ciryl Gane next weekend because either of those two against Lewis would be an absolute banger. Other Notables: -Phil Hawes outlasts Nassourdine Imavov in a 3 round affair, Hawes controlled the fence and wrestling in the first two rounds. If this went any further it seemed Imanov would have taken out Hawes because he was heavy handed in the third. -Tom Aspinall submits Arlovski in RD2, Arlovski looked fresh then Aspinall caught him, knocked him down and choked him out. -Chris Daukas decimates Alexei Olenik just throwing bombs out of the gate and finally the fight was stopped when Olenik did nothing but cover up. -Ketlen Vieira controlled Kunitskaya on the ground for a lot of the fight, but just laid and prayed. Vieria threw just 16 punches the entire fight while Kunitsaya threw 178 strikes. But Kunitsakaya ended the fight on top raining down blows to sure up the split decision win. Fernando Tatis Jr, just signed a 14 year deal that’s worth 340 million dollars. My guy is getting paid over 24 million dollars a season, not too shabby for a dude who’s legitimately played two MLB seasons. Now this isn’t me hating on Tatis, i think the dudes an absolute stud…..but god damn. Dude has played just 143 games, I'm not saying he isn’t awesome but that’s a shit ton of pressure on a young dude like that. On the other side Tatis is the “new guy” for my money he should get the shit marketed out of him by the MLB. He and Vlad Guerreo Jr should be marketed as the new stars of the league. They both have charisma and talent coming out of the ass. Like i said that is a shit ton of money to put in on Tatis, but i think it won’t backfire. This dude has all the tools to be a top 5 player in the league for a lot of years to come.
