We all know about how pathetic and disappointing the 2018 USA world cup “run was”. They needed just a tie against Trinidad and Tobago then they laid an egg and lost the game. They look abysmal at best, some of the vet players shouldn’t have even been there. Real talk….it’s time to move on from guys like, Bradley, Altidore, Zardes and so on. Those guys have literally just been the best of a terrible situation. This 2022 team looks good, talented and young. Am I saying they can win the World Cup? No. But I am saying they can surprise some people and make some noise For this Starting XII i’m going all fire power and i’m going all offense. Will I be wrong? Yeah probably but lets see how fun this team can be. I’m going with a 3-5-2 formation with this, which is unlikely but it will keep the most fire power they have on the field. First Striker Upfront: Timothy Weah, Lille OSC Weah is young, fast and super clinical when it comes to finishing, he is exactly what Altidor was supposed to be. Second Striker Upfront: Josh Sargent, SV Werder Bremen Big body for a striker, underrated agility and can finish just as good as Weah. Central Attacking Midfielder: Giovanni Reyna, Borrusia Dortmund Outside of Pulisic? This kid is the most talked about American prospect we have. He has speed, he can finish, he can make plays. Reyna can really open up play for USA. Right Defensive Midfielder: Weston McKennie, Juventus McKennie is such a rare talent. He can play well defensively and when needed he can jump into the play and put some balls in the back of the net. Left Defensive Midfielder: Tyler Adams, RB Leipzig The duo of Adams and McKennie is just phenomenal. This is without a doubt the strongest midfield the US team has and possibly will ever have. Left Wing: Christian Pulisic, Chelsea CAPTAIN AMERICA! Christian Pulisic is the reason US fans are excited, he’s played well in both the EPLa and the Bundesliga. Put the captains armband around his arm and let’s go! Right Wing: Jordan Morris, Swansea City This was a tough one for me. A couple players I could have chosen from, but I’m going with morris. He has the speed and playmaking ability that could make him dangerous on the opposite wing from Pulisic. Centre Back: John Brooks, VFL Wolfsburg Brooks is the easy selection here, he’s been one of the best defenders for a long time for team USA. In my opinion this was one of the easier choices for this starting XII. Left Back: Antonee Robinson, Fulham Robinson is a big body with lots of speed on the left side. He can create chances decently on crosses and for me is the best selection here Right Back: Sergino Dest, Barcelona This was another tough one. But Dest is the right call here, he’s played pretty well for Barcelona in La Liga and the Champions League. Look for the Dutch born American to make a big impact in the 2022 World Cup. Goalkeeper: Zack Steffen, Manchester City Steffen is the easiest of choices here between the sticks. Steffen hasn’t had the most chances at City but when he has played he’s looked pretty good. He’s gonna have to come up big for the USA to make a run in the World Cup. Bench Players/Reserves: Right Back: Reggie Cannon, Boavista Right Back: Deandre Yedlin, Galatasaray Centre Back: Chris Richards, Bayern Munich Midfielder: Brenden Aaronson, RB Salzburg Defender: Miles Robinson, Atlanta United Centre Back: Aaron Long, New York Red Bulls Midfielder: Paul Arriola, Swansea City (via DC United) Midfielder: Paxton Pomykal, FC Dallas Winger: Konrad de la Fuente, Barcelona Midfielder: Richie Ledezma, PSV Winger: Tyler Boyd, Sivasspor Goalkeeper: Sean Johnson, New York City FC Goalkeeper: Ethan Horvath, Club Brugge
