Yesterday I went over some of the best matches in the history of Summerslam. So I got a little nostalgic and got down a YouTube rabbit hole, Then I realized holy balls, Summerslam had some absolutely terrible main events. Maybe some of the worst main events in WWE history. I know Roman had a little streak there at Mania's where every main event he had was absolute dog shit, like when he went against Taker and when he went against Triple H. But like I said I went down a long, long, lonnnnngggg rabbit hole and thought "holy shit" some of these matches were actually main events? So let's stop talking and get to it, let's see how awful some of these main events really were..... Summerslam 1995: Diesel(C) v's Mabel This is absolutely absurd that this match was not only the main event but it was for the WWF title. Yes, Big Daddy V (RIP) wrestled in a Summerslam main event for the title. This match was less than 10 minutes long and an absolute shit fest. Let's be honest, when Big Daddy Cool is the best wrestler in a match, it most certainly will not be good. There was one spot in the match where Diesel tried to do an over the top rope move on to Mabel who was outside of the ring and it was just so horrendous that it as laughable. The only way I picture Mabel now is when he was Big Daddy V and had those suspenders on? You know what ones I'm talking about, where his boobies were flopping out? That's the Mabel I want to remember, no the Summerslam headlining Mabel. Summerslam 1993: Yokozuna(C) v's Lex Luger Not only was this match very bad but it may have had one of the dumbest, lamest, and corniest endings ever. This was it man, summer of 93', the Lex Express was hot, he slammed Yokozuna on an air craft carrier, he was going to hoist this great country to new heights. Nope. How does it end you ask? Lex Luger hits Yokozuna out of the ring with his steel plated forearm, wins by count out and they have a celebration like he just won the title and was going to go on an historic run. It was so fuckin lame, the Steiners and Tatanka hoist him on his shoulders while he waves the American flag and Macho Man was in the ring clapping, JESUS was it bad. THEY DROPPED RED, WHITE AND BLUE BALOONS FOR FUCKS SAKE....ok, ok, ok I'm done now.... Summerslam 1994: The Undertaker v's "The Undertaker" Holy shit how bad was Summerslam in the early/mid 90's?!?!?! The Million Dollar Man really brought it a fake Undertaker to go against the real one and oof was it bad. Brian Lee who played the fake Undertaker fucked up the few attempted moves he tried in the match, the crowd was dead silent, it was just overall awful. I actually watched this yesterday, the crowd was so silent even Vince on the mic kept saying "they're stunned" basically to hide how silent the crowd was. Oh yeah, the Bret v's Owen cage match was on this card and they ended this event with this heaping pile of shit. Summerslam 2016: Brock Lesnar v's Randy Orton This match had some decent moments and probably could have been awesome but overall it wasn't. The match ended with Lesnar beating the shit out of Orton until he opened a cut on Orton and the ref stopped the match, that's it....event over....Lesnar basically wins by TKO. Super anti-climatic ending and left a lot to be desired. Summerslam 2010: Team Cena v's Team Nexus The match wasn't the worst, it was really just the ending that sucked. Nexus was running shit in WWE at this time, just beating the shit out of everyone. Cena got to do Cena shit and take it to the Nexus, piss pounding members here and there but overall the Nexus was beating people up. But the rumor to this day is that Cena didn't want to put the Nexus over. So instead of the Nexus winning and continuing their hot run, Cena basically squashed any momentum that the Nexus had and literally killed Nexus.
