Possible Big News out of the NHL, Bruce Boudreau is looking for the Seattle Kraken head coaching job. Now Boudreau is a good coach and I don’t want anyone to forget that. But he is a good coach for good players. Boudreau historically has coached superstars, players like Alexander Ovechekin, Ryan Getzlaf, Teemu Selanne, even Corey Perry and at the time Alexander Semin. You might ask what is missing above, and that is players for the Wild. Minnesota, never had the stars power like the Ducks or Caps. Sure they do have good players, but they need coaches to lead them. Boudreau is not the guy for a team of what I call “meh” players. After the debacle that was the Vegas Golden Knights expansion draft, teams have learned how to work the expansion draft. Washington gets Chara to possibly keep unprotected, Boston calls up a bunch of young players to keep unprotected. There are new faces everywhere for this reason. Boudreau won’t be able to develop young players like Jakub Zboril. He definitely won’t be able to keep an aging Zdeno Chara engaged either. Lets face it, the sun has set on Bruce Boudreau being a head coach in the NHL. It sucks that he wasn’t able to bring home a cup but he did have a solid career. With 984 games behind the bench he won 567 of them (201 with Washington, 208 with Anaheim and 158 in Minnesota). Seattle won’t be able to bring him success like the Caps and Ducks got him. Now if you ask me, Mike Babcock is still available for an NHL job, and with every team having their coaches for what looks like a while look for him to take the job in Seattle. He is a cup winner, currently working with the University of Saskatchewan so he is keeping his bearings. Sure he officially has a history of being a grade A douchebag but he will keep his players in line, piss off his veterans to make them play angry and scare his youngsters to make them play well. I mean Marner and Matthews were studs under Babs. Babcock needs to clean up his act, but him being in a college environment might be what he needs to learn how to treat people.
