What a fucking night of fights, more than half of the card ended in finishes and if you're a genuine MMA fan this was most definitely fun for you. Starting at the Main Event, you saw Israel Adesanya move up to light heavyweight and challenge Jan Blachowicz. Izzy looked good in the fight but it was Jan that came out on top to retain the belt. I scored the fight 3-2 in favor of the champ, some of these cards had a 10-8 round to Jan, which I think is just absolutely insane. To me? To score a 10-8 on a card you have to absolutely dominate that round and your opponent did nothing, that just didn't happen. Jan utilized his wrestling in the 4th and 5th rounds to secure the win and I hope now people realize Blachowicz is no joke as a champ. Props to Izzy coming up and looking to be just the 5th ever person to hold two belts at once, it didn't work out for him but in no way does this diminish his star power. He's still the middleweight champ and he might hold that belt for a long, long, long time. Now let's talk the bantamweight title fight between the champion Petr Yan and the challenge Aljamin Sterling. Yan, for me was up on the cards 3-1 heading into the 5th round. He stuffed almost every attempted takedown Sterling had, Aljo landed more on the feet but Yan landed the more devastating shots. During the closing seconds of round 4 Sterling was defending Yan on one knee while Jan held the back of Sterling's neck making sure he didn't get to his feet. At one point while watching the fight I said out loud "Holy fuck he's actually gonna knee him while he's down" and sure as shit seconds later Yan kneed Sterling straight to the face almost knocking him out. Sterling was clearly out of it and could not continue, it was clear to see he couldn't continue, which is this case meant....he was the new bantamweight champ. Now I never liked the rule of losing a belt due to a DQ but that's the rules. No doubt these two will run it back later this year and hopefully Aljo will have what it takes to defend the belt. Now let's keep this short and sweet....Amanda Nunes is perhaps not just the best female fighter but the best fighter the UFC has ever seen. She is just murdering girls in there, It's almost brutal to watch. Megan Anderson looked scared shitless, she was tentative and Nunes came in firing. As soon as Nunes hit her with a clean shot, her eyes rolled back and that spelled the end for Anderson. She knocked her down, she locked in a violent triangle armbar and as they said in goodfellas after they killed Tommy....."and that's that". I genuinely don't know if anyone can beat this girl right now or ever. The best is she's so marketable her and her wife Nina Ansaroff just had a kid, she's super nice, super friendly, if I'm the UFC i market the absolute shit out of her. Side notes of the night: included Tim Elliot fighting Jordan Espinosa and midfight while Elliot is on top, calling Espinosa "a woman beater". This apparently stems from Tim Elliot receiving messages and pictures from the victim, showing that Espinosa had choked her and beat her back in 2018. Now if this is true, big up's to Tim Elliot for laying a beating on this dude over 3 rounds. Dominick Cruz returns to the cage to put on a Cruz-like performance, Cruz looked unhittable in his fight v's Casey Kenney, he danced around Kenney and landed his jab at will. Always loved Cruz and it was awesome to see him back in there. Islam Makachev submits Drew Dober in the third round via triangle choke. Makachev dominated with his wrestling all 3 rounds to show he is a legit contender at lightweight. Kai-Kara France with the performance of the night, being dominated on the ground most of the first round. France ends up standing and knocking out Rogerio Bontorin stiff as a board with just 5 seconds left in the round to secure the KO win.
