The city of Glendale, Arizona is kicking the Arizona Coyotes out of Gila River Arena after the 2021-2022 NHL season. The city believes they can generate far more revenue by hosting events and concerts then holding NHL games in the arena. The city might not be wrong, the Coyotes don't really pack the arena with fans game in and game out. The team isn't on the brink of a major playoff run, so the attendance doesn't seem like it will be getting better any time soon. So where will the Yotes play their hockey next year? Let's take a look at 5 possible options for them.
Phoenix Coyotes fans in the desert desperately want this team to stay in Arizona, so why not the Footprint Center located in Phoenix. The Coyotes actually played games in this arena but in it's initial run at this Arena the Coyotes didn't have the best run. The Arena at the time was not built for Hockey, they sold obstructed view seating at a reduced price, fans in some of these sections couldn't even see a quarter of the ice including one of the nets and team had to put curtains over certain parts of the arena where the view was so badly obstructed. But maybe things have changed there now. Quebec City I mean, this ones a no brainer right? We've been talking about Quebec getting another hockey team since the Nordiques left. They built a new half a billion dollar arena back in 2012, Videotron Centre in Quebec holds just over 18,000 fans for hockey games and you know damn well the fans will back that place night in and night out. Quebec's bids have fallen short after trying to get a new team lately, being given to Vegas and Seattle but this could be the time Quebec gets pro hockey back. Everything is already in place to have a pro team there too now the move just has to be made. Hamilton (Ontario) Jim Balsillie? Don't know him? Welp, he's Canadian businessman who tried bringing the Penguins, Predators and the Coyotes to Hamilton before....so why not one more shot? They already have a 17,000 seat arena where the OHL's Hamilton Bulldogs play, so why the hell not Hamilton? The good thing for them is their only 50 miles away from Buffalo, so if they have a rivalry with them it can be a rivalry they can probably win. Kansas City Kansas City is a good sports town, T-Mobile arena can hold over 17,000 people for a hockey game, so why the hell not? They support the Chiefs and Royals really well and I think they'd be a pretty decent hockey town. Will they be crazy like Vegas? Probably not but I think they'll provide for a really good atmosphere.
